OK — technically it’s only 19 days later. I still have piece of cake or two squirrelled away in the freezer (shhh!).

This was our first year participating in cake day and it was glorious. For me, it was a chance to try out a chocolate cake recipe with tahini and halva buttercream that I’ve had on my mind for some time now. Royce tried out a Boston cream pie (cake) from America’s test kitchen.

Eggs were broken. Flour was sifted. Butter was creamed. Life was good.
